Biofuel Buses

The 'Big Green Bus' is Powered by Used Vegetable Oil

A team of 12 Dartmouth students has converted an original 1989 MCI coach to run on waste vegetable oil. The 'Big Green Bus' is where the students are spending their summer as they travel to spread awareness of sustainable living and green technology. The team departed from Hanover on June 18, 2010 and is scheduled to end their journey on August 29th, 2010 in Cleveland.

The 'Big Green Bus' features an air conditioner powered by ten 12V deep-cycle batteries connected to a 4,000 watt inverter. The bus also features solar panels and a bamboo cabinet and floor to make it more sustainable.
