Automated Cleaning Device Pictures
Robotic Vacuum Cleaner Paintings Shot in Long Exposure Cameras

By: Senduran Bhakthakumaran (Star) Feb 1, 12

Long exposure settings on cameras give people a chance to weave symbols with their bodies or objects before the camera’s shutter closes, and Roomba takes advantage of this with its robotic vacuum cleaner paintings. Hoovers usually seem as if they are whizzing through rooms in arbitrary directions just sucking up whatever is in their paths.

Having a long exposure camera attached to the vacuums shows the paths they take and, with a little bit of experimentation with color, the floors are not just clean, but much more interesting to look at. The vacuums move in circles and straight lines, and their seemingly arbitrary movement actually makes for great floor decals.
