Pack-Up for McDonald's Aims to Reduce Waste With Recyclable Plates

When you're eating in at a fast food restaurant, why should you need to be served food in disposable boxes? The designers of the Pack-Up for McDonald's concept point out that you might as well eat from proper plates and bowls that can be washed, so to lessen the negative impact on the environment.

Of course, crockery would not exactly be the style of the international affordable burger joint. What's been proposed instead by Clarisse Simonneau and Adrien Olczak, as part of a design competition in France, is a collection of take-out containers made from polypropylene that can either be washed and reused or recycled.

The translucent material can be easily cut and creased to form takeaway-like cartons for sandwiches and packets for fries. As part of Pack-Up for McDonald's, they can be nestled into compact adaptable trays for easy carrying to one's seat.
