Faceted Cut-Out Architecture

The Cool Facade of the Oporto Vodafone Building in Porto

The Oporto Vodafone Building is the new headquarters for the mobile phone brand Vodaphone in Porto. Designed by architects Barbosa & Guimaraes of Matosinhos in Portugal, the building features a uniquely faceted facade with windows that look as if they were formed from zigzagging cut-outs.

Designed with eight floors—three of which are underground—the Oporto Vodafone Building was inspired by painting, sculpture and photography, in which the architects describe it as having “many faces in motion.” Click through the images courtesy of photographer Nelson Garrido to see more of the Oporto Vodafone Building.
