NonLin/Lin Pavilion Experiments with the Illusion of Space

It's easy to take space for granted, since within months of life, infant eyes grow to accept the depth of the world around them. The NonLin/Lin Pavilion, however, is one project that asks viewers to consider three dimensions as if for the very first time.

The unusual large-scale object looks as though it might represent any number of organic forms, form the inner structures of the human body, to the anatomy of underwater coral species. Marc Fornes and THEVERYMANY were collaborators on Orleans' FRAC Centre installation, and they instilled a mysterious beauty amidst the fluid interaction of solids and voids in the perforated material. Undulating tubular shapes and curved cavities provide compelling shapes through which observers can peer and pass. The NonLin/Lin Pavilion offers an eye-opening abstract experience.
