The Mr Knife, Miss Fork series finds an unlikely source for inspiration in the 85-year-old surrealist book 'Babylon,' written by French author Rene Crevel. Drawing from one passage in particular in which it reads, "I’ll call you Miss Fork. You, you’ll call me Mr. Knife, and people will think we’re a Spanish couple on our honeymoon," the mastermind behind the series, L.A. native Laurel Consuelo Broughton of Welcome Companions, reveals, "I’d always loved the way the little girl in the novel uses objects to personify people."
Comprised of fashionable accessories including a coin purse shaped like a hand, a hat that doubles as a purse and a clutch that is disguised as a standard American envelope, the Mr Knife, Miss Fork series is part of Welcome Projects.
