Suctioning Subway Stations

The Quicksand-Like Monte St Angelo Station in Naples

Subway stations have never been as creatively designed as what London studio Amanda Levete Architects and artist Anish Kapoor have come up with for the Monte St Angelo station in Naples, Italy.

Rising above the ground with curving authority that resembles quicksand—a gigantic tube or loaf of bread, whatever way you want to look at it—the Monte St Angelo station is a sight to behold. According to Dezeen, it is made of Corten steel so that it looks as if it is pulling up from the ground, and aluminum, which gives it the illusion of sinking into the earth.
