Elevated Suburban Living Spaces
The Hybrid Forest Goes Green by Taking to the Sky

By: Michael Hines (Superstar) Jan 27, 12
{SummaryTitle}

Hybrid Forest is a new housing concept that literally elevates the concept of suburban living. Hybrid Forest was designed by 24 Degrees Studio and consists of a series of elevated living structures. The elevated apartments are designed to do as little damage to the environment as possible by leaving a smaller imprint on the environment than homes built at ground level.

Most multistory homes and apartment buildings are as wide at the bottom as they are at the top. This design is unnecessary today in that modern society has the technology and know how to build buildings with small spaces that expand outward as they grow upward. Hybrid Forest is an example of that type of design. The base of these buildings is small, but their upper floors are wide and provide all of the services that normal apartments provide on their ground floors, such as parking and recreation facilities.
