Jennifer Shaw's Hurricane Story Retells Her Traumatic Experience

I can't imagine experiencing and surviving the devastation of a life-shattering natural disaster, let alone have a baby during that time, which is why the Hurricane Story is so poignantly important. It shows an intimate side to the lasting effects the Katrina Hurricane had on the citizens of New Orleans in a unique and artistic manner.

Created by photographer Jennifer Shaw, the Hurricane Story recreated scenes from the moments that stood out to her the most during that time using plastic toys. Taking pictures with plastic cameras, she was able to give the Hurricane Story project a dreamy look that really made it feel as though these memories are muddled for a reason. That the shock of what happened still resonates throughout them.
