A fictional story is represented with a divine fashion flashback in Hanging Rock Reimagined by Kelly Defina. The photographs were staged to retell the Victorian tale of lost schoolgirls in the bush outside of Melbourne.
To set the scene with an element of reverie and romanticism, stylist Rach Harris worked closely with Lynetta Ramani and Trent Anthony Lopuszanski on hair and makeup to give the gorgeous girls fantastical vintage appearances with poofy red hair, rosy cheeks, frilly frocks, corsets and parasols. Models Fi Macrae, Gemma Browne and Olivia Kranz exude a surreal and sensual femininity amidst a landscape so wild yet totally bewitching. Hanging Rock Reimagined becomes a fresh fairy tale in which this story is pleasant compared to the unnerving original.
