The New Dutch Horror Film 'App' Syncs with Smartphones in the Audience

If the makers of the new Dutch horror film 'App' have it their way, you'll leave your phone on and interact with it in the middle of the movie theater.

The concept behind the Bobby Boerman's Dutch horror film is that at special points in the film, the plot will sync up with an app that has been pre-downloaded onto the audience members' smartphones. The plot deals with a student who finds a mysterious app on her smartphone called Iris, which couldn't possibly be 'Siri' spelled backwards could it? The app sends the girl encrypted codes that will get sent to the audience's smartphone at the same time. Other neat ideas for the film/app syncing is a scene involving a bomb where audience members can see how much time is left on the bomb.

One thing is guaranteed with this Dutch horror film: 'App' will feature lots of scenes of characters looking concerned and frightened while they stare at their smartphones.
