The David Dixon 2012 Collection Pays Homage to Film 'The Birds'

The Toronto World MasterCard Fashion Week went out in style with David Dixon’s 2012 collection, a tribute to director Alfred Hitchcock. As a close to the event, which has been privy to a slew of remarkable sets, Dixon showcased his ability to merge film with fashion via a quill-ridden display.

The David Dixon 2012 collection was primarily based upon Hitchcock’s ‘The Birds,’ a classic thriller that is often remembered for its display of sleek looks. Admittedly, the Dixon pieces revolved around actress Tippi Hendren and costume designer Edith Head, an iconic match responsible for Hendren’s classic green suit.

Dixon’s show featured sword-like feathers that were tied to rings, bangles and pendants; an homage to the film’s fowl theme. Evening gowns and luxurious overcoats were also heavily plumed and dark, a color scheme that resonated well with the horror move motif.
