Crochet is cool!
Originally trained in drawing and painting at the Glasgow School of Art in Scotland, Jo Hamilton discovered crochet ten years later and assimilated it into her practice.
In the series ‘I Crochet Portland’ (exhibited in March at Stumptown in Portland), she depicted, through the chosen medium of yarn, local residents and notable cityscapes.
These crocheted portraits and cityscapes are not only beautiful, and a display of tremendous skills, but are further evidence of the artistic quality of crafts.
