For French Fashion magazine L’Officiel’s March 2011 issue, an African-inspired montage was featured with a black-faced Beyonce Knowles.

As this was intended to be seen as a tribute to African culture and traditions, it was shadowed by the fact that the magazine had chosen to cover the African American singer’s face with black makeup even though Beyonce is already black. If this L’Officiel March 2011 shoot was created with an aim to attain plenty of attention, this goal has undeniably been attained.
