Led-Lit Libraries

The Castro Leal Library Uses Diode Lighting

Mexico City's Castro Leal Library has come in first place at the Mexican Association of Interior Designers' 2012 AMDI Awards. The structure is made to house the diplomat Antonion Castro Leal's personal collection of books, and its interesting lighting concept will display them in a artistic and entirely contemporary manner.

LED light displays have been central to night clubs and chic restaurant blueprints. And though they have been for the most part appropriated to the entertainment sector, the BGP Arquitectura firm has used the technology to illuminate rows of book shelves at the Castro Leal Library.

A series of skylights mix the artificial LED fixtures with natural beams of light. The intermingling of these two sources provides a bit of both worlds, an informed choice for the BGP Arquitectura group.
