Dark Contemplative Photo Shoots

'Dear, Ophelia' by Brittany Chretien Heads to an Eerie Forest

Photographer Brittany Chretien captures a contemplative model in 'Dear, Ophelia.' I can't help but wonder if the shoot's title is a play on the infamous suicidal character in Shakespeare's 'Hamlet.' The first image of the model laying on a bench in the forest setting reminds me of John Millais' painting of Ophelia from 1850.

We've seen a number of photo shoots that play on Shakespearean themes. I've included some of my favorites here.

Implications - Consumers gravitate towards fantasy imagery because it provides consumers with escapist experiences. These experiences alleviate consumer stress that's accumulated through various factors related to living urban lifestyles.
