Microscopic Snowflake Pictures

Andrew Osokin Captures Nature's Fine Details

Andrew Osokin, a Moscow-based photographer, has took to the outdoors to capture his intensely detailed images of ice and snow flakes. Despite the minute size of his subjects, Osokin has been able to zero in on stunning geometric shapes as they are found in nature.

Osokin is known for his immediacy. His pictures are often taken during the winter season's first snowfall, imbuing his work with a critical sense of immediacy. Patience is of the utmost importance as the chilled bits of water melt rapidly.

Despite their quick dissipation, he has been able to capture the very interaction of snow and ice with the ground as they collide, apparent in these images via vines and blades of grass.
