Pigeon Prohibition

No More Rice at Venice Weddings

The people of Venice, Italy have a pigeon problem. They're pecking at pedestals and pooping in the piazzas. Venetian taxpayers fork over almost $400 a year to clean and repair pigeon damage. That's a predicament of monutmental proportions!

Don't panic! Politicians have a panacea - no more rice throwing at weddings. Apparently, rice-eating pigeons are a big plight. The logic goes, that by controlling the amount of rice they eat, the pigeons won't poop so much. Swarms of pigeons have nothing to do with tourists feeding the birds french fries or crusts of bread. The real trouble is wedding rice.
