Edible Schoolyards

PS216 in New York is Getting a Nutritous Makeover

A public school in New York City is the target of an experiment being conducted by Work AC and Alice Waters’ Chez Panisse Foundation. PS216, the school in question, is getting a brand new schoolyard that is unlike any other. The Edible Schoolyard is a system that allows the actual school building to produce energy and heat while also collecting rain water.

The Edible Schoolyard experiment will also be able to sort through waste and have its own composting system. It seems through all of these sustainable systems, PS216 will be equipped with its very own vegetable garden, promoting healthy eating.
