Solar-Powered Parasols

Elena Corchero's Collection Blends Vintage Fabrics and Green Tech

Wearable computer clothing is usually designed by males and has a decidedly male flavor. Now comes Elena Corchero and her lovely vintage fabrics melded with technology.

Corchero's parasol and fan, for example, will gather energy from the sun when used outside. When brought inside, they will emit a lovely soft glow. Elena Chorchero calls her collection "solar vintage." Using resistors, LEDs and solar cells, she adds them to the brightly colored and embellished fabrics for truly green accessories.
