Rebranding at the White House

WhiteHouse.gov Changes Look, Adds Blog and Web 2.0 Features

President Obama and his family won't move into the White House until next week, but change has already come to Washington, D.C. in the form of a revamped presidential website packed with Web 2.0 features.

Promptly at noon Eastern Time, the White House website, WhiteHouse.gov, changed over to President Obama's theme. Among its slideshow of the Obama family on the front page and a rotating news headlines box, there's another notable addition to the site: a blog.

The White House's new director of new media, Macon Phillips, was the author of the first post, which announced that President Obama had been sworn in. There's footage of the new administration on their whistle-stop tour--in YouTube format, natch--and text of Obama's Martin Luther King, Jr. Day speech at the Day of Service Luncheon at Coolidge High School.
