World Wonders Reinterpreted

Taj Mahal Inspired Art

The Taj Mahal is regarded as one of the eight wonders of the world, and some Western historians have noted that its architectural beauty has never been surpassed. That being said, how could I walk away from the Taj Mahal cake? Then I found the tea bags (why?) and a more than random trend was discovered.

Matchitecture appears to no longer be the domain of retired, eccentric Englishmen. You can now buy kits online, in this case the most impressive is the Taj Mahal. But in case you’re missing him, the OAP in this collection of Taj Mahal creations comes in the form of retired cabinet-maker Ron Savory who created an exact replica out of 10,000 wooden match-sticks.

For reasons I can’t understand, a model of this amazing building was also floated down the Thames, while the 3D model would have me pleading for mercy.

Much of the models are to be expected, but my favourite is, of course, the Trump casino-version in Atlantic city.
