Basso and Brooke Spring 2009

Bruno Basso and Christopher Brooke did Japan design a world of favors. Japanese printmakers created the textiles inspired by the ancient paper craft and Basso and Brooke let the prints capture the catwalk. The collision of patterns with beading, over-embroidery and uber crystallization by Swarovski had tremendous eye appeal. Japan-inspired origami-pleats and folding added effects that enhanced the overall aesthetic.

Implications - The integration of traditional garments and contemporary fashion demonstrates that the past is still a relevant influence. It's not easy for brands to continuously come up with something new, so it's become more commonplace to breathe life into old fashion to create something fresh in a different perspective.
