Economic Insight Through Fashion

Designers Echo Economy

Every fall, Melissa Magsaysay, LA Time staff writer, pours over stacks of fashion magazines looking for the best new styles of the season.

This year, she says fall and winter fashions are reflecting the economy; the themes are dark and foreboding with a sense of heaviness.

Some examples include textured lace from Prada, sculpted wool coats at Louis Vuitton and purple, teal and mustard tones at Carolina Herrera.

Most of these looks would seem to be more at ease on the other coast from L.A.
