GOP VP Candidate Charms Mothers

Hockey mom Sarah Palin electrified the crowd of GOP delegates Wednesday with her speech at the Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minnesota. Central to her speech was an emphasis on Palin’s humble upbringing and strong commitment to family.
One of the rally points in the speech occurred when Sarah Palin departed from her prepared remarks to pay homage to the many hockey moms that were in attendance: “I gotta love the hockey moms. You know what they say about the difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull? Lipstick.”
It remains to be seen how Sarah Palin’s speech will affect the McCain-Palin ticket in the polls, but with this impromptu quip, Palin put average hockey moms--certainly an underappreciated segment of the population--on the national radar.
