Tennis Ball Furniture

Furniture to Ace Your Living Space

This range of furniture, from creative Dutch designer Tejo Remy and Rene Veenhuizen, uses the traditional yellow tennis ball as the basis for its creative designs. The result certainly is far from a lot of balls - it's amazing what you can just do with steel and tennis balls.

I love the piece of unique public seating on display at Rotterdam's Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen - it is really striking and just seems to invite you to sit down and play with it. Visitors are reporting that it is really comfortable too.

Bringing the concept into your home is the Tennis Ball Chair, similarly constructed with just steel and tennis balls. In this instance, 25 tennis balls to be precise, which are not glued in place but held on by larger holes in the top and smaller holes in the bottom sheets of plywood so the balls don't push through when you sit on it.

There is also the tennis ball stool. Again, it is simply constructed from a steel frame, legs and 117 tennis balls as support.

Make sure you check out the related trends for more awesome chairs - my favourite remains the plush toy one :-)
