Kollektivemind*, an Athenian architecture firm, worked together with the community in a less privileged neighborhood of Chania, Greece, to create this lively mural made entirely out of recycled plastic water bottles.
Working off of a traditional weaving pattern, the name of the project, 'Argallios,' comes from the root terms 'loom' and 'in a different way,' describing the alternative method and materials used to create this vibrant pattern. Children in the community were involved with collecting, cutting, preparing and painting the bottles, and got to take part in making a work of art in their local area.
Through this project, Kollektivemind* demonstrated how materials as simple as recycled plastic water bottles and metal fencing can be part of a productive project with empowering results.
