Hubert Duprat is a French artist who became known for his strange works of art revolving around caddisfly larvae. These insects would live in streams and find objects from their natural surroundings to create a casing to live in. With this in mind, Hubert Duprat decided to help a few of them out.
As though separating the lions from the lambs, Hubert Duprat took certain caddisfly to a new home and removed their existing shell. He then provided gold flakes and some semi-precious and precious stones including turquoise, coral and lapis lazuli as well as sapphires, pearls, rubies and diamonds, which they used to create rich casings out of. These casing were considerably different from those typically fashioned out of pebbles, wood and plants.
