Solar Glassware Projects

The Energy Collection by Marjan Van Aubel Harness Power from Light

The glassware in the Energy Collection has been given a photovoltaic layer of dye Synthesized Solar Cell so that it can harness power from the light surrounding it at all times. An innovative material, to say the least, it works against people's preconceptions of how solar objects tend to look. The Energy Collection also shows how far along solar technology has come and how it can be adapted for everyday use.

Designed by Marjan van Aubel, the Energy Collection was created in collaboration with Michael Graetzel lab at Ecole Polytechnic Federale,
Solaronix, EPFL+ECAL Lab and Imperial College London. Working with a specially made cabinet, the glasses transfers its collected energy into it to be stored for later.
