Swedish student Eddi Tornberg has created a workspace that effectively produces the energy needed to run all necessary office electronics through the execution of everyday activities. Inspired by the quote “Human nature is above all things lazy” by Harriet Beecher Stowe, Eddi Tornberg endeavors to prove that this is not the case by showing people the fruits of their labor in terms of the kinetic energy they produce.
Eddi Tornberg's workstation, titled Unplugged, employs three techniques to do just that: piezoelectricity from the carpet, the chair utilizing the Seebeck effect and the flower through photosynthesis. The basic wooden material used for Eddi Tornberg's Unplugged desk set offsets the abundance of wires sprouting from its back and attaching to the previously-mentioned objects.
