Katarzyna Slowianska Re-Imagines Old Paintings with Kiddish Subjects

Most people are familiar with the masterpieces referenced in these Katarzyna Slowianska paintings, but I’m sure many of you would have never expected to see the Mona Lisa or the Girl with a Pearl Earring re-imagined as children. The incredible Slowianska has the unique ability to replicate the works of Leonardo da Vinci, Johannes Vermeer, Rembrandt and more while replacing the original subjects with youthful incarnations of themselves. It’s quite an amazing sight to see famous art figures with round faces and stubby anatomy.

Katarzyna Slowianska works mostly with oil paint, though she’ll use whatever materials necessary in order mimic the exact look of the originals. This abstract art form is akin to Japanese-style “chibi” illustration, in which well-known characters are rendered with cutesy kiddish features.
