The Cai Guo-Qiang 'Mystery Circle: Explosion Project' piece sparks fascination. The pyrotechnic painting is part of the New York-based Chinese artist Cai Guo-Qiang exhibit 'Sky Ladder' at the MOCA in Los Angeles. Cai created this visually compelling mural in order to mark the show's opening. The Mystery Circle is a continuation of the extraterrestrial theme explored in the artist's work.
The onsite explosion was composed of 40,000 firework rockets, 100 spinning pyrotechnic UFOs and mini Titanium Salute rockets. All this combustion represents crop circles, UFOs and alien figures. The MOCA building wall will then be imprinted by these explosions leaving the exhibit with an outdoor painting for those who were unable to attend the compelling event.
The Sky Ladder exhibit will be shown at the MOCA until July 30th.
