Honeycomb Agricultural Architecture

The London Tower Farm Aims to Feed its Inhabitants

The scary truth of civilization is that more people are moving into the cities and opting out of the jobs that produce the food that feeds them. The London Tower Farm acknowledges this shift, and strives to solve the problem by bringing agriculture into the urban environment.

The concept may not be new, but as far as instigation goes, even the most technologically advanced metropolises haven't quite figured out the best way to accomplish this. This project by Xome Arquitectos of Mexico marks another imaginative proposal for how such a system could be brought about.

A consolidation of residential and agrarian spaces compose the striking honeycomb structure, modeled on the carbon atom. Ideally, the food grown in the London Tower Farm will feed everyone who lives inside, through an ecological process that employs collected rainwater and solar power.
