John Ciamillo Shoots Black and White Boho Beauties

One look through John Ciamillo's selected portfolio and it's clear that he has carved out a niche in the realm of greyscale photography, which, while not necessarily the most original aesthetic, he is able to dominate because of his talent for drawing expressive emotions out of his models.

John Ciamillo is based in New York City and many of the models that shine in his portfolio effuse a certain attitude often indigenous to New Yorkers. John Ciamillo's photography shows a shutterbug with a passion for authenticity and grit. He eschews the type of photography that has become the norm in most major fashion magazines -- heavily airbrushed and Photoshopped pieces. In an interview with All About Models, he cops to using Photoshop to do some re-touching and blemish fixing, but he is firm on his ability to not overdo it. "The focus is on the model because to me she’s the most important thing," he says. "She is going to affect how the entire photo is going to feel through her emotions or body position."

Looking through these John Ciamillo shots, it's clear that his quest for genuine emotion in his work has been achieved. Do not be surprised if you see or hear his name more frequently in the next few weeks, months, and years.
