One look through the illustrations of Omero Levya is like taking a long, lonely trip down into an intricate nightmare.

Omero Levya illustrations are characterized by a detailed and complicated confluence of humans, animals, and unbridled energy. His illustrations contain a strong touch of dark mysticism, giving the drawings a surrealist, apocalyptic element.

My favorite Omero Levya creation is the cover illustration of this collection of his work. It features a cowboy-hating wearing accordion player and two additional men, knee deep in a murky river. The ominous look the accordion player gives the viewer smacks of a character in violent western-cum-horror movie.

Omero Levya is a native of Villa Nicolás Bravo, Mexico, and is a graduate of the Escuela Nacional de Pintura, Escultura y Grabado “La Esmeralda” México.
