Mark Nixon's Chimecco Sculpture Encourages Conversation and Play

I am more than sure no one will fear the far-fetched possibility of a human-devouring troll residing under one particular bridge in Aarhus, Denmark, thanks to the Chimecco art installation. A large kinetic sculpture, Chimecco is a wind chime installation that would scare away all evil creatures while opening up its musical arms to good folk such as you or me.

Created by artist Mark Nixon, the Chimecco art installation was commissioned by Sculpture by the Sea. Made using 600 50mm diameter, gold-anodized aluminium pipes ranging in length, the Chimecco art installation relies on the movement created by vibrations from the footpath above, or even the wind, to create sound. An interactive piece, Chimecco can even be accessed from below and moved by hand to create soothing sounds. Chimecco encourages conversation and play.
