Organic Valley Milk Packaging Embraces Total Sustainability

Selling organic edibles doesn't always mean that the producers conform to sustainable practices, but Organic Valley Milk packaging shows that the inside and outside of this beverage have been developed responsibly.

Part of the 2011 IOPP Repackaging Challenge, this example of rebranding has quite an aesthetic appeal. The recycled, earth-tone paper wrapping, which is printed with soy-based ink, tells the purchaser that not only has the vitality of the environment been taken into account, but so has the health of the consumer. Recalling the good old days before so much chemical farming came about, the Organic Valley Milk packaging references the form of the old glass milk bottle, but caps it off with a color-coded lid that communicates its fat content. The design is attributed to Alicia Prentice, Lisa Ellerin, Amy Ross, Olivia Duval, Blake Sanders and Chris Yoon.
