Obama Names Sonia Sotomayor to Supreme Court

President Barack Obama has named Sonia Sotomayor as the new U.S federal judge--the first Hispanic in U.S history to hold this Supreme Court title.

If the Senate agrees, Sonia Sotomayor will also be the third woman in U.S history to have a seat in the Supreme Court.

"Walking in the door, she [Sonia Sotomayor] would bring more experience on the bench and more varied experience on the bench than anyone currently serving on the United States Supreme Court had when they were appointed," said President Barack Obama at a recent press conference.
