Cosimo Cavallaro, a Canadian Italian sculptor, has created an "anatomically correct chocolate sculpture" of Jesus titled "My Sweet Lord." It is scheduled to be displayed in the Lab Gallery inside the Roger Smith Hotel in Manhattan, NY, a few days before Easter. However, the art work has infuriated the Catholic League and it is still undecided what the Gallery will do about that.
There are really two ways to look at this issue: It is a beautiful sentiment and work of art, or it is pornographic. If one strolls around Italy, where the artist spent much of his youth, one would see many naked statues and works of art. There is an old cliché "beauty is in the eyes of the beholder." I think pornography is too.
I guess he should have used Godiva chocolate?
