Iconic 007 Throwbacks

'Goldfinger' Scene Reprised in 'Quantum of Solace'

Bond girls get bumped off in all sorts of creative ways, but producers have upped the ante in the new 007 movie ‘Quantum of Solace.’

An MI6 spy ordered to keep an eye on Bond, played by Gemma Arterton, is found drowned in crude oil. The dead body draped over the bed is deliberately reminiscent of the 1964 Bond classic ‘Goldfinger.’

The actress was covered from head to toe in a sticky substance (leave it) for the dramatic sequence. The actress did not particularly enjoy the experience, as she couldn’t breathe or hear due to the substance all over her.

Producers will be hoping the image in ‘Quantum of Solace’ turns out to be as enduring as the memorable ‘60s scene that inspired it.
