Subway Street Art

The Take a Seat Project

The Take A Seat project is a series of guerrilla public art installations that aims to remedy the problem of a lack of available seating for subway commuters.

The project involves rescuing perfectly functional old chairs from trash piles and placing them on subway platforms for tired travelers to make use of.

With very little effort involved in relocating the objects, this very cool concept sees chairs which were once liabilities become valuable assets for the general public.

Implications - The seating solutions installed during the Take a Seat campaign are not affixed to MTA property in any way, opening up the project to include contributions from members of the general public who want to continue the project.
