Saliva Art

Spit Photogram Prints

Artist and instructor, Jessica Jane Julius, tries to make something socially disgusting like "discarded body fluid" into something beautiful.

She shines light through her saliva onto light sensitive paper which is then developed like black and white photographs into large prints that are at least a yard wide.

She equates the physical qualities of the enlarged saliva images in her "Spit Print" series to those of other "acceptable" fluids. She even likens the rings of the spit bubbles to look similar to a topographical map of the moon.

Jessica Julius is certainly an artist who lives by her creed - to question "our theories of moral, sexual, physiological, and morphological classification."
