Andriy Kurovets designed this ring modeled after the AIDS virus. I really have mixed feelings about this piece of jewelry. One the one hand, I think it's really morbid to walk around with a reminder of a disease that has ravished millions worldwide and is presently wiping out entire generations of Sub-Saharan Africa. On the other hand, the disease's presence and impact in our lives is an inescapable and undeniable reality.
If this AIDS ring is looking to make a strong statement, I think it is being successful.
