Hardcore, New Finnish Design is presenting Noa Bembibre and her Glass Knives collection during New York Design Week 2008.
“Bembibre's glass knives combine the very ancient roots of design – transforming rocks into tools – with innovative contemporary kitchenware design,†HardcoreDesign says. Noa combines the “raw qualities of the Stone Age tools with the glossy, transparent and polished surface of glass.â€
Perhaps her inspiration came from ancient Scandinavian arrowheads used in the Viking age. I love the association of her modern glass kitchen knife designs to primeval hunting tools.
