Eco Bounty Hunters

Cell Phone Recycling Contest

If you'd like to earn yourself a prestigious title like "Eco Bounty Hunter," listen up. To earn the title, you'll need to come up with an innovative way to recycle cell phones. Tim Ferriss, the author of the 4 Hour Work Week, is offering a prize for the person that thinks of the best solution.

"How do we convince companies, like Nokia or AT&T, to make good behavior convenient, helping us and the planet?" Tim asks. "Simple. Call them on it. Literally."

Before June 1, he suggests sending "just mail it" proposal to the CEOs of companies like Nokia, Samsung, AT&T and Verizon as well as printer companies like Avery. He also suggests contacting shipping organizations like USPS, UPS and DHL to get them to "help invalidate excuses the phone CEOs will cite for inaction."

The received responses should then be posted on TreeHugger, Gizmodo or Tim's blog.

If you want to be especially timely, act fast, because Earth Month ends in a few days. Of course we hope you continue your green practices throughout the year, but this is more official, like a green new year resolution.
