Morbid Light Fixtures

Enpieza's Colgao Lamp

This morbid lamp was created by design studio Enpieza located in Spain. The Colgao ("hung" in Spanish) is hanging from the top horizontal rod of the lamp. The lamp looks very simple except for the tasteless, hanging anthropomorphic figure. Either the designers were fresh out of ideas or they are into black humor.

Implications - The use of morbidity and darkness in design is increasing in popularity with today's consumer, serving as a sign of the shift in humor. This is the age of information, with the opportunity to access all kinds of information at consumers' fingertips. Thus, consumers are desensitized, causing a demand for more shocking products.
