Snow Hotel in Finland

LumiLinna

To the excitement of all those enamoured by snow sculptures, igloos and ice hotels, LumiLinna Snow Hotel will be opening on January 28 in Finland! The buildings at the SnowCastle of Kemi include the SnowHotel, SnowRestaurant, SnowChapel and CastleLounge, all of which are made of snow and ice, inside and out.

This unique type of tourism is really taking off; instead of seeing cold weather and snow as a disadvantage, ice hotels leverage these traits to create novel experiences. We featured the original Ice Hotel in Sweden, and one the Glace Quebec in Canada, all of which are doing astoundingly well.

Bringing lingerie on a trip like this would probably just be a waste of suitcase space; all 20 of the hotel's double rooms are kept at a chilly –5ºC. It sounds shocking, but really isn't uncomfortable once guests crawl into the Ajungilak arctic sleeping bags.

The SnowRestaurant has ice tables and chairs covered in reindeer skin. The cozy CastleLounge offers a snug area for both coffee and alcoholic drinks, so no matter your mood on vacation, the Snow Hotel has something for you.

The enchanted world of palatial ice will be open daily from 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. until April 6.
