Verizon Voyager Threatens iPhone

3 VIDEOS

The Verizon Voyager is the latest cell phone to stir up the media, with countless news sources and bloggers wondering if this could be the first big competitor to Apple’s iPhone, and will be similar in price. Trend Hunter was proud beat the traditional media in getting the story to you, and now we’re able to present a collection of videos and a photo gallery for your viewing pleasure.

"The Voyager has a lot of surface similarities to the iPhone," the Detroit Free Press said. "It’s slightly narrower and about twice as thick but its large, black touch screen looks a little like the iPhone layout.

"But flip it open and there is a full-sized QWERTY keyboard. The Voyager runs on Verizon’s lighting-fast 3g EV-DO network, in contrast to the pokey AT&T EDGE 2g network used by AT&T, the iPhone’s exclusive carrier.

"Other things it does that the iPhone can’t: It has a removable and swappable battery, expansion card memory and a 2-megapixel still or video camera. It downloads music and video over the air, instead of just by Wi-Fi, and it can provide turn-by-turn GPS navigation and directions."

The San Diego Tribune compared the two, "Apple fans have been quick to point out that the Voyager’s screen is not as large as the one on the iPhone. Another difference for the Voyager and other would-be iPhone killers is that only the iPhone works with Apple’s popular iTunes software and online store. The Voyager has access to Verizon’s wireless music store."

"The Voyager is so awesome, your hand will tremble in fear," CrunchGear expressed passionately.

"Oh you heard right my friends. You better watch the hell out come this Autumn, ‘cause Verizon has a phone coming out that is going to show that iPhone who’s boss. According to Verizon’s Wireless CMO, the Voyager is not only the ‘best’ phone, but it’s also going to ‘kill the iPhone’. Strong words!"

Thejrah commented on Gizmodo‘s site, "I was going to get an iPhone this month, but it looks like I’ll be waiting for this phone’s release so I can stay on VZW’s network."

Marketing VOX was also quick to point out the competition Verizon will bring Apple, "The Voyager also packs a special surprise for those frustrated with Apple’s fickle touchscreen keypad - a QWERTY keyboard slides out."

And lastly, Squidoo said, "The Verizon Voyager is the coolest phone since the iPhone to come out, it’s cheaper, and it’s ready to take the cellular world by storm."
