Hairy Plates

Embroidered China

Although we have featured many unique and sometimes bizarre plates here at TH, these “Fiber Arts” versions by Vietnamese Artist, Diem Chau, are certainly more than a little bit out there.

The idea of hair and plates is a little strange to begin with (think of finding a hair in your food, Yuck!) but these embroidered designs are certainly thought-provoking and eye catching.

In addition to an extensive range of fiber items, Chau offers custom carved crayon images, and the miniature table and chairs in the cup are carved from, believe it or not, toothpicks. Is there no end to the extent of creativity? Let’s hope not!
