Sarah McNeil is a New Zealand-based artist with a propensity for drawing soft-hued, minimalist cat portraits with precision and affection.

Her love for cats is palpable in each illustration. The frisky felines come off as regal, warm, and yet mysterious; none of the cats stare directly into the camera for their portraits. Sarah McNeil's ability to capture the essence of felines comes with years of formal training -- she graduated from Australia's Monash University in 2007 with a degree in painting and drawing, and her art has garnered attention around the world. Her work has been exhibited in cities as varied and diverse as Melbourne, Australia, Chicago, Illinois, Los Angeles, California, and Ottawa, Ontario.

Sarah McNeil's career is showing no signs of slowing down, she expects to travel throughout Australia for various art projects in the new year. Click through the gallery to see why Sarah McNeil has captured the attention of curators around the world.
